Scurcola Marsicana: is situated at 730 mt above the sea level, placed on the top of San Nicola hill, on the north side of the Palentini territory, overlooking the old course of the Tiburtina Valeria. Here, you can find the ruins of the Orsini Castle with big circular towers. In the church of Santa Maria you find a Madonna with Child, a wooden sculpture of the XIII century, coming from the destroyed abbey of Santa Maria della Vittoria, erected on the site which was theatre of the battle of Tagliacozzo in 1268 between Corradino di Svevia and Carlo D'Angiò.
